Due to a change in the personal circumstances of the Owner this unique, classic blue water racer is now for sale. SAFARI was sailed around the world in the 70's - singlehanded by a retired German doctor - so she is definitely designed for short crewed ocean sailing.
Service history: The current owner has repaired and partly reglued cabin and cabin decks; covered them new with canvas bedded in lead/linseed oil/ marine oil-paint mix, fixed with copper tacks (all fittings removed, serviced and remounted).Partly recaulked and refastened sidedecks.Seviced all winches (7 on deck, 6 on masts - wire)Checked hull - had to weld new sections around ruddershaft and serviced steering.Beams serviced and partly changed (steel on sidedecks, wood on cabin).Renovated full interior, New wooden hatch, New paint system everywhereServiced stove, Serviced engineThe following is still to be done:Re-step masts and replace rigging (10 years old but lightly used) Install all antennas, New batteriesCheck electrical system (is all working, but has not been used for four years; very well installed though)Install details (Clock, few hinges, few lamps, part of the guide of the mainmast is missing).
