CONSTRUCTION
Round Bilge Carvel construction, Iroko planking, Canadian Rock Elm steam bent ribs. Teak laid decks on Iroko beams. Super structure mahogany and mahogany marine ply. Every Rampart was constructed from logs specially chosen by the designer-builder Horace Desty. These were then carefully seasoned, never kiln dried, before being machined.
Wood Keel: Iroko 5 inch sided. Ballast Keel: 1 ton 5cwt cast iron. Stem, stem post and Hog: Iroko. Ribs: Rock Elm 1 1/4" x I" @ 7" centres. Deck shelves and Gunwales: 4" x 2" Rock Elm and Iroko. Stringers: 2 1/2 x 2" Rock Elm. Transom, Breast hook and Knees: Iroko. Grown Floors: 4" sided Iroko. Planking: I" Iroko. Deck Beams: 3 1/2" x 2" Iroko. Decks: I" laid Teak. Bilge keels: 9" Pine. Engine Beds: 4" sided Pine. Cabin Soles: Pine. Fastenings: Bolts are hot dipped galvanised steel Nails copper roved and clenched
MECHANICAL
Engines: Two Perkins 6.354 marine diesels, 125 HP at 2400 RPM Borg Warner 2: 1 reduction gearboxes, heat exchanger cooling, alternators, flexible mountings and Hardy Spicer countershafts. 250-gallon ms fuel tank with twin, large capacity, Racal fuel filters.
Dual Morse single lever engine controls and full instrumentation on dash panel in wheelhouse. Stern gear; 1 3/4" SS shafts with high tensile Manganese Bronze stern tubes and 24" propellers. "A" Brackets, gunmetal with cutlass rubber bearings. Wheel steering to twin rudders.
SPEED: ll knots Consumption approx. 5 gal hr @ 1,800 revs. [IO knots] ELECTRICAL
24v system from 6 no batteries [new 2001], charged from alternator or from New Mar heavy-duty charger. [new2001]. 240v AC circuit for shore connection with numerous socket outlets.
Gas installation; well-ventilated box to contain two large bottles fitted with new split valves and feed to cooker.

DECK EQUIPMENT

Four engine room ventilators and two galley ventilators. Aluminium passarelle (new 2002) and teak gang plank. Rigging system to allow mast to be raised and lowered by 2 people. Mast and boom with all rigging halyards etc. [needs re-rigging.] Steadying sail. Custom made sea legs. Boathooks and 6 no fenders in deck holders. Numerous ropes in good condition. Boarding ladders; 1 folding varnished steps and secondary aluminium steps Ensign Staff with gilded cap and socket. Air horn. Zodiac 4 person inflatable dinghy with inflatable floor (used 3 seasons only). Johnson 4 hp outboard (used 3 seasons only). Searchlight; renovated 2001. 3 no summer awnings, full winter cover and frame specially designed and made, covers all deck and bright-work and can be folded away and easily stowed in forepeak.
ACCOMMODATION
6/7 full sized berths, 2no wc's & wash basins, deckhouse and saloon, large galley, 6' headroom through-out, flying bridge with instruments, aft cockpit.The accommodation is in superb condition with highly varnished mahogany and white deckheads throughout. Upholstery in blue velour with co-ordinated curtains, carpets and low voltage brass light fittings. The interior has been updated and redesigned by professional designers.
Forecastle: Two berths (new mattresses 2005) with shelves under, Blake Lavac Zenith toilet in mahogany case, wash basin with hot and cold, two berth lights, two opening portholes, fitted carpet, banging locker and access to deck though fore hatch.
Stateroom: Two large berths (new mattresses 2005) with drawers and lockers under, hanging wardrobe, dressing table with drawer and cupboard, new antique mirror, 4 berth lights, 4 opening windows, fitted carpet, bookcase, bedding and large skylight in deckhead
Heads: Blake Lavac Zenith toilet, cupboard and shelf: opening window
Shower Compartment: Vanity Unit with wash basin with hot and cold pressurised shower unit, mirror and cupboards above and below vanity unit Electric pump to drain water.
Wheelhouse: reached by short stair nom stateroom with engines fitted below hatches in floor. Upholstered settee suitable for pilot berth with lockers under, upholstered corner seat to port with adjustable helmsman seat, Teak and chrome plated steering wheel, engine control panel, fuse boards, barometer and bookshelves, controls for Eberspacher central heating and small desk with cupboard under.
GALLEY:
Downstairs from wheelhouse and full width of vessel, Stainless steel sink and drainer with twin taps plus drinking water tap with removable filters new sureflow water pump 2005. Hot water supplied by Calorifier (new 2000) running off engine or a l kW immersion heater. Below and above sink cupboards and shelves with bottle rack and a 12/240 v Coolmatic ftidge/fteezer (new 2001) Large worktop area to starboard and full sized 3 burner gas cooker, grill and oven. Cutlery, crockery with miscellaneous domestic gear, portable de-humidifier which is always left running throughout the winter months.
SALOON:
Upholstered settees giving two large single berths, one of which can be converted into a double berth with drawers and cupboards. Large mahogany table with folding sides, full length wet locker, two sideboards, stowage behind port settee, four opening windows, low voltage brass light fittings, carpets and curtains.
AFT COCKPIT
Two large seat lockers, stowage under afterdeck, removable floor to give access to 200-gallon water tank. Access ladders to main deck and fly bridge and shore electrical connection socket, two new cushions for cockpit seating 2005. Numerous spares and tools.
DECK: There is ample deck space for dinghy stowage or when covered with sun awnings, provides a large area to entertain. Flying bridge equipped with second locker purpose made to contain three directors' chairs, removablebackrests and bench seat together with purpose made upholstered cushions.
There is no doubt that this motor yacht is a real thoroughbred, built with care and attention that is difficult to get in a modern day glass fibre moulding and is maintained to a level rarely seen today.
