Classic Motor Vessel (MV) 'Kytra' lying Palma, Mallorca. Built in 1959 in the style of a Scottish fishing boat by Herd & McKenzie of Buckie, Kytra is a superb seaboat in all weathers. Powered by a sturdy Gardner engine she has a range of around 800 miles.
Over 50 years Kytra has only had three owners. In the 30 years under her present ownership she has been surveyed every 5 years. With a full time skipper, Kytra has been maintained and restored to “best yacht standards”, both above and below decks, over recent years. Kytra is offered in excellent condition with the price much reduced and offers invited for a quick sale.

Four double cabins provide comfort for 8 (with potential for two more in the salon), there is an en-suite bathroom in the aft cabin, a bathroom off the forward corridor and a toilet in the bow.
With the addition of a couple of folding chairs the table in the saloon can seat eight in comfort.

These are comments from the surveyor during her 2010 inspection: ''Kytra is a fine example of what is perhaps one of the most seaworthy designs of small motor boat ever produced. She was originally built as a yacht rather than being a fishing boat conversion as is often seen.
I have now known Kytra for more than 12 years and during that time her maintenance her been to a very high standard, she has had two long term skippers both of whom have been conscientious and energetic with regard to her maintenance.
In the market place she is close to unique with only one or two similar high quality examples
around."

As a measure of the depth and scale of the restoration and maintenance work undertaken in recent years: the Gardner engine has been totally stripped down and rebuilt; the bulwarks and capping rail have been renewed; a new generator installed and all the cabins have been totally restored. On deck: - a teak table, designed to move forward of the wheelhouse as required, has been fitted over the aft cabin skylight; provision has been made for a Mediterranean style aft gangway; a lifting boom has been fitted to facilitate stowing the tender and outboard on the cabin roof.
Kytra has not been one of those yachts that spends most of its time lying idle on a mooring or a marina – in her 50 year life she has crossed the Atlantic, sailed 5 seas, visited three continents, nineteen countries and countless great cities – London, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Gibraltar, Venice, Capri, Valencia, Dubrovnik to name just a few!
In the course of her many cruises Kytra has visited some of the worlds most celebrated sights from the ruins of Pompeii to the Giants Causeway. She has explored the inland Waterways of the East Coast of America, the Gota Canal crossing Sweden, the Caledonian Canal across Scotland, the Dutch canals to Amsterdam, the Seine River to Paris and the Thames to London.
In conclusion Kytra is a boat in which to do things and go places – in comfort and in style.
