A bit of history…
Most likely the boat was built at Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard in Hamburg, Germany in the years 1920-1930. A boat came to Szczecin and sailed there until the end of the World War II. It is not known what was happening with the vessel between 1945 and 1955. In 1956, the wreck of the boat was taken to the Yacht Shipyard in Szczecin and completely renovated. According to an entry in the Polish Register of Shipping in the 70s the boat was registered in Gdynia. During this time, the yacht sailed for the private company in Puck. The next owners were the League of Friends of the Army which organized trainings and maritime education for soldiers. Later the owner changed name to the National Defence League. Another owner was Coal Mine in Myslowice. At the end of the 80s the boat returned to Szczecin, where it was renovated in “Leaonid Teliga” Marine Yacht Shipyard. After the political transformation in the 90s and the lack of funds for further renovation the shipyard ceased to exist. The yacht was sold to a private person and removed from the Polish Register of Shipping.
In 2003, the S / Y Christopher Colvmbvs once again went to the shipyard for renovations. Colvmbvs got a new diagonal mahogany hull. Entirely new deck made of Iroko, new hardware and windows. The whole interior has been carefully restored and changed. The yacht got a brand new mast, rigging, boom and sails. After four years of repairing the boat was ready in May 2007.
Today, S / Y Christopher Colvmbvs is for sale and waiting for a new owner who will maintain the beauty and glorious history of the yacht.
