Dufour Classic 45 built 1999 lying Clyde, Scotland. This Dufour Classic 45 is an actively cruised vessel, has been both offshore and cruised northern coasts, and as such is ready to go ANYWHERE, almost immediately. All systems listed have been well maintained and are fully functioning.
The Dufour Classic 45 is cutter rigged, as this means easily shifting to less sail area when the wind is up, and her inside headsail is self tacking, which makes going to weather very easy. She carries an asymetric spinnaker and all gear including a spinnaker pole (which also is also used to pole out the genoa).
Everything on this Dufour Classic 45 has been set up for short handed sailing, although this would be a terrific vessel for a family to go world cruising.
Yanmar 4JH 3CE rating 56 HP, through a Yanmar S31 Saildrive to a Autostream 3 blade folding Stainless Steel Propeller. The feathering propeller is very powerful and increased the boat speed and reversing ability when added in 2007. There is almost no walking to the side in reverse and one can 'back and fill' very easily.

The Electrical Systems of this Dufour Yachts Classic 45 - 12 Volt system is powered by a Balmar series 60, 100 amp marine alternator through a Balmar external 'smart' 3 stage voltage regulator, to 2 150 amp hour ships batteries and a separate engine battery. The battery voltage, amps and amp hour consumed are monitored by a Xantrex Linc 20 monitor.
There is also a 40 amp 240 volt AC to 12 volt DC charging unit, and 240 volts to the main navigation station all wired in.
The main Navigation systems are all Raymarine and include:
An E80 Multi Function Network Display.
ST 60 Wind Speed and Direction, Boat Speed, and Depth.
A DSM30 digital Sounder, mainly used as a backup, but with Fish-finding technology.
ST 6002 Smart Pilot Controller, leading to a M81132 Linear Drive, that is mounted below deck. The system will run by compass, or wind direction, and its autolearn function makes it function in any weather (we have it well tested).
A Raymarine Digital Radar Scanner mounted on a separate stern radar mast, and displayed through the E 80 MFD
All displays are on a pod mounted directly in front of the helm and readily controlled by the helmsman.
The E 80 and ST 60 instruments were new in 2008, the radar and pilot in 2010

All deck hatches are Lewmar, with the forward one and 6 smaller ones replaced in 2009, 6-Side hatches are Rutgerson with stainless steel frames. There are two 25 Kg anchors, and 200 meters of 10mm chain. The anchor is raised with a Lofrans 1000W -12 volt winch.
Steering is Whitlock solid rod with rack and pinion, so there are no cables, and great sensitivity.
New in 2010 is an Eberspacher hot water heater mounted aft supplying heated coolant to four fan driven heat exchangers, which quickly warms all interior cabins.
The boat is equipped with a 10 person liferaft in a cannister mounted above decks with hydrostatic release with valid inspection to 2013.
There is a 3 m RIB with a 4 Hp Yamaha engine (2006)
There are original manuals for most systems
The lens pieces of the 8 Rutgerson portlights were replaced winter 2012... Contact the seller of this Dufour Yachts Classic 45 for more details.
Rigging & Winches equipped on this Dufour Yachts Classic 45 - There are two Lewmar 54s mounted on the cockpit coamings and 2 Lewmar 44s mounted aft of those, with 2 Lewmar 44s mounted on the cabin topside beside the hatches. There are a total of 12 Spinlock Cam-Cleats. The mainsheet leads both to a winch by the companionway and the other end to a winch directly by the helm (so there is no need for the helmsman to get a crew to spill wind) The staysail is set up on a self tacking track with the single sheet led to the helm as well. All 3 reefing lines lead to the cockpit.
There are running backs for very heavy weather with rough seas if the situation arises, which are otherwise stowed at the main shrouds.
The main boom is controlled with a Selden ridgid book vang added in 2010.
Sails of the Dufour Yachts Classic 45 - The main and Genoa are Neil Pride (2005), the Staysail is an addition (2007), and the Spinnaker is from Momentum (2008). All are in excellent condition. The genoa is never used partially rolled when going to weather (as then the staysail is used) so the sail is not stretched at the foot or leach.
The main sail cover which is part of the 'lazy jack' system was replaced last summer, at the same time the owner replaced the Bimini. This work was done by Nicholson sails at the Silvers Yard on the Clyde.
Spacious mahogany cabins with matching upholstery throughout.
Two double staterooms aft, a spacious V-berth in the forecastle, a up / down twin in the forward starboard cabin. All cabins have at least one opening hatch.
Main salon is as illustrated, with large settee and table to starboard and a linear galley midship to port. Plenty of country space with easy access to the fridge (2 freezer plates), 3-burner stove with oven & broiler, double sinks and plenty of drawers & lockers.
There are two heads with sinks & showers, and the aft head has a separate shower stall. The heads are monocoque construction in FRP hence they are bright and easily cleaned, with no risk of rot from moisture.
Bookshelves to starboard, stereo with built-in speakers in the cabin and cockpit, where there is large fold-away mahogany table for outside dining.
The boat has a generous chart table complete with full instrument panels & instrument switches.
Some improvements include: cabin soles fastened in with floor anchors (see PYI in the USA) making the boat much quieter as well as safer in heavy air. Below the cabin sole the there is no wood, with the main frames laid up in 'U' shaped very heavy FRP.
There are fans in all cabins, and new LED lights in the main cabin.
Corian worktop replaced summer 2013.
Table professionally altered 2014 to fold allowing more space in the saloon. Also 3 burner cooker with oven and grille..
