Owner's Comments of the Wells 41 / Blue Water 41 built by Ken Dobson, NZ

Aumoana is an ocean going Bermuda Cutter designed by Terry Wells in the seventies. The design was called Blue Water 41 or Wells 41.
With her clipper bow, bowsprit, beautiful sheer and “tumblehome” transom, she is a real eye-catcher wherever she sails. Her design is reminiscent of the famous 1930-40's L. F. Herreshoff designs such as the 36 ft Nereja, the 57ft Tioga and others.
Aumoana is of medium heavy displacement and has a modernised "wine glass" underwater section with long fin keel and skeg hung rudder. She has has sailed some 50,000nm but has in the last 18 years been only lightly used by its current owner of 20 years. Well maintained and continuously upgraded. Topsides were recently repainted . She is a very seaworthy mid-cockpit boat set up for safe shorthanded passagemaking.
