Rigging & Winches

Rigging & Winches equipped on this Skerry Schooner Yacht - The rig is in accordance with Drawing Nos SK-A-02-B and SK-A-04-A Gig and spars drawings.
The vessel is arranged as a Gaff rigged Schooner with both of the masts in Tabernacles. Arrangements are made to allow the masts to be lowered without the requirement for shore side facilities.
All of the spars are constructed from Spar grade B.C. Pine using epoxy resins. Both masts are arranged with central cable ducts. The finish is clear varnish of at least 8 coats.
The masts are fitted with galvanised steel bands to take rigging loads.
All blocks are Ash shelled with nylon sheaves and galvanised bindings Lloyds Register of Shipping approved (or equal).
Tensioning on all shrouds on both masts are of the deadeye type.
Running rigging is from a natural looking UV stabilised 3-strand polypropylene rope.
Standing rigging is from appropriately sized galvanised wire rope

Accommodation

Owners Suite
This is arranged aft of the collision bulkhead and extends aft to Fr 9. Access to the cabin is via a hinged wooden door from the centreline passageway. A large double berth is sited on the centreline at the fwd end of the space with small shelf port and starboard at the head. Drawers are arranged under the berth with access from the foot. Large hanging lockers with shelves at the top are arranged one to port, one to starboard.
An en suite washroom is accessed via a hinged wooden door on the longitudinal bulkhead
A 76mm dia High screw down Dome vents in bronze (Classic Marine type HL-1570 or equal) is fitted to the deckhead over the shower and a circular opening portlight is fitted to the casing side (Classic Marine type CB-0602 or equal).
Escape hatch.
Guest Cabins
There are two guest cabins, each a mirror image of the other. The port cabin extends from forward of Fr 8 to aft of Fr10, the starboard from forward of Fr9 to Fr 11.5.
Access to these cabins is via hinged wooden doors from the centreline passage. The lower berth is arranged with a 200 litre fresh water tank beneath. A pipe cot is arranged over the lower berth suspended between the two end bulkheads on 40mm OD aluminium alloy ‘poles’. These can be stowed for single occupancy.
Each cabin is fitted with a side table with locker under and a four drawer Tallboy. Hooks are provided for hanging clothing on the aft bulkhead. Each cabin is fitted with two circular opening portlights fitted to the casing side (Classic Marine type CB-0602 or equal) and a single 76mm dia High screw down Dome vents in bronze (Classic Marine type HL-1570 or equal) fitted to the deckhead.


Washrooms
There are two identical washrooms arranged as wet rooms and lined throughout in “Formica’ laminate or equal. Each washroom is fitted with a Blakes Lavac Zenith hand operated vacuum flush WC, pedestal mounted on a stainless steel covered tray to facilitate wash down. The mirror finished hemispherical wash hand basin (Barka LISS 30D or equal from Penguin Engineering) is fitted to a cabinet arranged with locker beneath and behind the basin. The basin is fitted with a single mixer tap with shower (Barka MDL1001 with SP0700 head holder or equal) the door to the upper locker is fitted with mirror and light.
Each washroom is fitted with one circular opening portlight fitted to the casing side (Classic Marine type CB-0602 or equal) and a single 76mm dia High screw down Dome vents in bronze (Classic Marine type HL-1570 or equal) fitted to the deckhead.

Galley
The galley is a generous 2.6m long and arranged down the port side from Fr11.5 to Fr 15. The work surface form a ‘U’ shape including the top of the Engine Box and is fitted with cupboards outboard down the full length. The galley is fitted with a three-burner gas cooker with grill and oven (Force 10 63356 or equal) between Fr 13 and 14. The cooker is fitted with gimbals and features an oven door that slides into a recess under the cooker when open. A built in refrigerator (top loading) is fitted at the forward end of the worktop and a large double sink (Lavelli Doppi LV.30.32.23.20 or equal from Penguin Engineering) This is fitted with a single swivelling mixer tap for fresh water (Barka MY1400 or equal) and a lever action brass faucet for salt water (Classic Marine type SY-1304 or equal)
Refrigerator is approx 100 litre and fitted with a Waeco VD-15 Circulating air evaporator driven by a Waeco Coolmatic 84 compressor. This combination gives very rapid startup cooling and is efficient on power usage
There is a clear opening in bulkhead 15 750 mm x 500 mm to allow communication between crew in the Galley and those in the Great Cabin.
The passageway to starboard leading from the galley area to the Great Cabin has a 2m long settee/berth for use as a pilot berth with stowage bins below. At the aft end of this is a wet hanging locker.

Great Cabin
Sited beneath the raised quarterdeck are the large saloon and the Chart Space.
The Chart Space is to Port at the forward end and has a full size chart table with chart stowage under. There is a panel provided on bulkhead 15 for mounting instrumentation. Electrical panel is outboard. The fixed seat is shaped to allow easy access to the navigation space and has a locker under. There is a bookcase fitted on the centreline between the edge of the chart table and the steps leading down to the Pilot Berth space. The top part can be used for audio/visual equipment with the Display/television mounted on the aft face of the cockpit bulkhead.
At the after end of this cabin is a large Saloon area with ‘U’ shaped settee with seating for 9 around the table. A further two may be seated on stools at the forward end of the table.
There are two fixed windows in the transom one to port and one to starboard of the centreline.
Escape hatch.
Headroom in this cabin is approximately 1.8m at the forward end and 2.0m at the aft end.
