I purchased “Taimanu” in September 1999 with a view to customising her to live on board and set off cruising for 3 to 4 years. However, with the untimely death of my partner, these plans changed. The boat was stored for two years and has not seen much use by either the builder or myself. The engine has only done 120 hours, and the sails are in excellent order.
I love the boat and would buy her again tomorrow, were things different. She is a delight to sail – very safe and sea-kindly, which one would expect given her design. She has been repainted, so has had a new lease of life for 10 years or more. The quality of the woodwork below is superb, and although she is technically amateur built, this has been done to an excellent standard, the builder having built two boats prior to “Taimanu”. The carpenter, I believe, worked for the Getty Foundation. I hope she finds an appreciative purchaser.

Service history: Hull blasted and repainted with Awlgrip and international paint, and copper coat anti-fowling 2002. Bilges repainted 2003.
