Built by Jeremy Rogers and launched in July 1978. She was lightly sailed by her first owner who wintered the boat ashore usually from October to June. I purchased her from the first owner in September 1988 and used her initially for class racing, subsequently for cruising. A major refit was carried out by Jeremy Rogers in 1993. The boat was featured on the front cover of Yachting Monthly in May 1994. In 1997 the boat was equipped for extended cruising and was sailed by me from Lymington to Minorca, subsequently to Sicily and Malta (1998) and to the Greek Ionian Islands (1999), returning to Lymington in September 2000. She has been laid-up ashore every winter and, while based in the Mediterranean, was in commission for only 1 to 3 months every year.
The Contessa 32 is a classic Cruiser /Racer, well equipped and professionally maintained. She is a fast seaworthy boat and a joy to sail.
