Classic Yacht 'Bloodhound' price reduced
The classic yacht 'Bloodhound', once owned by Queen Elizabeth 11 and the Duke of Edinburgh, has been lovingly restored by Tony Mcgrail, a specialist classic yacht restorer.
This beautiful classic yacht was originally built in 1935 by Camper & Nicholson to a design by Peter Nicholson.
Built to the 12 metre rule, but constructed with offshore racing in mind, she has proven to be the boat to beat at countless regattas and offshore races during her long life.
During her ownership by the UK Royal family she was a regular site at many regattas, also touring with the family on their regular trips to Scotland and the Continent. When not being used by the Royal family, this lovely classic yacht could be found at yacht clubs around the UK where she was available to members wishing to experience sailing on a beautiful yacht. Interestingly, she was skippered by no less a person than Francis Drake!
Tony McGrail has now completed a full restoration and she is available for sale in time for the 2008 season. As one of the lucky few who have been sailing her during sea trials and reviews for magazines such as Classic Yacht, I can report she is the lovliest yacht I have ever had the pleasure to sail.

Najad 490 for sale with boatmatch.com
Boatmatch are proud to be able to offer two Najad 490 yachts for sale. The newer Najad 490 offered was commissioned in Henan in April 2000. She has been little used since her launch, having seen light Northern-European summer use for four summers and dry stored every winter and for two summers – the last two years in Henan – with a no-expense-spared maintenance program (engine 600 hours, log 4000 M, 09/2007). She was built and extensively fitted out by Najad yachts for comfortable trans-ocean sailing; much of her inventory is little used or unused. She will be of considerable interest to a new-boat buyer.
The second Najad 490 'Altarial' is 490 No.6 (actually the second yacht built). Her hull was made in 1998 and she was fitted out and launched in time for the boat show season in summer 1999. The owners bought her from Najad after the 1999 Southampton show, as the show boat she had a lot of extras. She was also used for Southampton Boat Show in 2000 and has remained with the same owners from new to date.
The owners sailed her in the Caribbean and USA from 2001 until 2004 when they brought
her back to the Mediterranean. She has been lovingly cared for and well maintained.
She is in excellent condition for a 1999 yacht, Although original, the sails are cleaned and repaired every year.

X-Yacht 332 new to market
The X-Yachts 332 looks to be boatmatch’s most popular selling yacht this season with three sales already achieved. All these X-Yachts 332 have been sold to Swedish clients, two have already been shipped to Sweden and the third will be sailed by her proud new owner in April 2008.
New to the market, Boatmatch have now been asked to offer two more X-Yacht 332’s, both lying UK Hamble.
In great order and with enough sails to run a charter fleet, X-factor is offered at £69,000, her owner is the current UK X-Yachts 332 National Champion and this boat is optimised to win races.
At a similar asking price, the other boat offered is ‘Xcentric’. Family sailed, she is another successful hull with a good race record. A great specification includes North / Quantum sails, Brookes and Gatehouse instruments with 20/20's on mast.
We know these two will not be on the market for long, if you want an X-Yachts 332 for 2008 you would be best advised to come and buy one. The season is nearly here and I think these will be last boats to market this season.

A day out on the Royal Yacht ‘Bloodhound’
Life as a broker sometimes opens up opportunities that more than make up for the days spent in the office.
In summer 2007 I was lucky enough to be invited on Royal Yacht ‘Bloodhound’ for the first sea trial after her complete rebuild. Lying in Poole quay on the UK South Coast, ‘Bloodhound’ was looking absolutely stunning sitting amongst a number of new Sunseeker motor yachts. There is no doubt ‘Bloodhound’ was the star of the show as she outshone millions of pounds worth of motor yacht.
The weather conditions were perfect with a gentle breeze and bright sunshine, we set off down Poole harbour and out to sea for her first sail since she returned to the UK from the Channel Isles in a storm five years earlier.
This yacht is absolutely beautiful and a joy to sail, as soon as the sails were up she powered up majestically and showed us why she is feared by all the competitors she has sailed against in the past.
My favourite moments of this amazing sail were the time I spent helming her, especially on the way back up Poole harbour in a rising breeze when we held over ten knots for a considerable time.

36' RALPH WINSLOW CUTTER
"JACK TARR" has been rebuilt from the keel up and can be considered a "new" yacht. The replacement value is estimated to range from $425,000-525,000.
Designed by Ralph Winslow in 1936 and originally launched in 1969 and she was totally rebuilt over a 8 year period by a master shipwright and her owner.
She is a very able pilot house cutter with old world charm. Her interior woodwork is exquisite. There has been tremendous attention to detail throughtout.
There is a 09/01/05 survey available to interested parties as well as the documented survey of her reconstruction.

SWEDISH 95 SQUARE METER CLASS
S/Y Gerdny is a Swedish 95 square meter Class built 1920 to the 1918 square meter rule. She was built at Hasselströms WarF in Sweden after drawings by Erik Salander, one of the most famous Swedish naval architects of our time. She has a modern Bermuda 7/8 rigg, an inboard diesel engine and is richly equipped. Present owner has owned her for 10 years. During 1997-2001, she was on land and totally restored by professional boat builders. She is in mint condition and stronger than when she was new. Gerdny is RE-designed to be sailed by two persons, she is normally raced by a crew of 6-8 and sleeps 5-6 persons. Her dead weight is 10 metric tons.

54' JOHN ALDEN SCHOONER
"True Love" is a Malabar VII schooner that was totally rebuilt in 2003. She was originally built by Pendleton Brothers Shipyard of Wiscasset, Maine in 1926. Her rebuild was done by Midnight Marine Resources in Newport, RI.
"True Love" holds a COI for 23 day passengers and one captain and one crew.
The vessel is familiar to many as she starred in the 1955 film, "High Society" with Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly. Her owner is ready for an immediate sale and has reduced the price accordingly.

66' AMERICA'S CUP 12-METER SLOOP
Easterner is one of the 12-Meter fleet of Newport, Rhode Island and is United States Coast Guard certified for 16 passengers and 3 crew. She has a current I.T.N.A. 12-Meter certificate. Built by Abeking & Rasmussen in Germany in 1955 this long keeled 20m traditional yawl has a steel hull and teak superstructure and decks with varnished spruce spars. Brixham trawler new to market
New to the market, lying Sweden, this beautiful Brixham trawler replica would prove ideal for charter. Built in Germany and launched in 1980, she is constructed in steel to Lloyds rules for unrestricted area.

Mike Golding's new 'Ecover 3' in the UK
Mike Golding's new Open 60' 'Ecover 3' is lying at Ocean Village, Southampton, UK while he prepares her for new adventures.
I have followed Mike's progress from skipper with the 'Challenge Business' to one of our foremost offshore yachtsmen. I was involved with his first single handed Round the World project as a supplier and can understand why he has succeeded in one of the toughest businesses to achieve recognition.
Unfortunately I missed seeing him yesterday as I was meeting a client at the time, Mike had gone by the time I got back to where he was rigging the mast. However, I am sure all of us will wish him and his new yacht well in future challenges.

One of my favourite cruising yachts, the Moody 376, has just come to market with www.boatmatch.com.
Lying in Marmaris, Turkey, she is in a perfect place for extended cruising in the Mediterranean this Autumn.
Designed by Bill Dixon, the Moody 376 has a centre cockpit for cruising comfort and a full size aft owners cabin giving space and privacy on extended cruises.

As summer hits the UK at last, the boatmatch team are busy keeping their boating skills honed during August. Jonathan is at Cowes on a J133, Simon sailing his National 12 at Burton Week and Swanage Regatta and Tim has just been sailing on 'Bloodhound' for photo shoot off Poole.
Don't worry, the system at boatmatch keeps running and you can be sure we are all monitoring it in time to make sure you don't miss that great deal.. We never close.,. but sometimes we take short breaks to hone up our skills. The picture shows Tim main trimming on Bloodhound, more pictures of the others soon.....

Fairline Phantom 43'
It's amazing, I put my comments up last week saying what lovely boats the two Fairline Phantoms are that we have on our books and promptly sold one.

Fairline Phantom 43'
The Fairline Phantom 43' has to be one of my favourite flybridge motor yachts. She has it all, style, great accommodation, build quality and fabulous looks.
Boatmatch have two lovely Phantom 43's on brokerage, one built in 2000 and one in 2002. Both are lying on the UK South Coast, are in immaculate condition have excellent specifications.

Sealine C39 new to market
The Sealine C39 was described in Motor Boat and Yachting (October 2002) as 'one of the most radical developments undertaken by a major European boatbuilder in the past decade'. Her fully enclosed coupe style cockpit is ideal for protection from the elements, come rain or shine (seems the UK and Northern Europe has more of the former at present).
Boatmatch offers a 2003 built C39 with twin KAD300 engines on outdrives, this gives excellent performance and economy with top speed at 34/36Kts.
This Sealine C39 has a high specification including generator and reverse cycle air conditioning making her suitable for use on hot sunny days or those lovely but cold winter days we all love to go boating.

Joo Eli'n arrives in Sweden
Princess 420 'Joo Eli'n' has arrived and been launched in her new home on the East Coast of Sweden.
Proud owners Karl-Anders and Mona bought her through Boatmatch in May, shipping her home with Wetering in time for the Swedish summer.
To quote Karl-Anders 'Many thanks for taking such good care of everything throughout the whole purchase. It looks like we will have more contact at the end of the summer and the autumn since my friends are looking for new boats.

June 5th 2007 ~ Bloodhound starred on Meridian TV news today. The story of Bloodhound included an interview with Tony McGrail, owner and restorer. He told her story and how the restoration was planned and executed so successfully.

Royal racing yacht is restored to glory with a £1.5m price tag
CHRISTCHURCH A 70-year-old yacht once owned and raced by the Duke of Edinburgh has been restored to her former glory.
'Bloodhound', a 63ft wooden yawl, served the Royal Family for seven years in the 1960s. Prince Philip bought her in 1962 when she was already 25 years old and she was sold in 1969 for £25,000.
Tony McGrail, a yacht surveyor, bought her four years ago for an undisclosed sum and has spent £1 million on bringing her to her present condition (right).
Mr McGrail, from Christchurch, Dorset, said: “She is probably the most famous ocean racer existing and won countless races. We are hoping that Prince Philip will visit her, and perhaps sail her once again.”
Mr McGrail remortgaged his house to restore the yacht, renowned for her speed and race victories including the 1939 Fastnet. He says that he cannot afford to keep her and is hoping to sell her for about £1.5 million.

Her ownership heritage is listed in the Lloyds registers with concurrent bills of sale since Miles Wyatt’s sale to the Queen and Prince Phillip and thereon to Bernard & Robert Cook to the present day.
Bloodhound sails again
The classic yacht 'Bloodhound', once owned by the HRH Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, is back and sailing again after a four year rebuild.
I was one of a crew of six invited to crew on her 'maiden' voyage from Poole today. The weather was perfect with bright sunshine and a gentle breeze when we set off at 1100hrs, staying bright and breezy all day making it perfect conditions for her first sea trial.
From the moment we set sail, you could feel the power of rig and the stiffness of the the slim 65' hull. We headed out to sea and she was soon showing us why she was such a successful racing yacht, topping 8 knots in the fairly light conditions.
When we arrived back in Poole, it was amazing to see the interest in her and the pleasure she gave to other yachtsmen and motor yacht owners.
I can say that after fifty odd years of sailing, many of them on some fairly spectacular yachts, I have never got so much enjoyment as I have from sailing 'Bloodhound' today.
Now, if you are looking to buy her, I would like to be first in the line if you want a skipper!

Boatmatch says bon voyage to Dirk, Antje and 'Born Slippy 2
Dirk, Antje and crew waving goodbye today before setting off home in their Seaquest Prima 38' 'Born Slippy 2' to her new home in Germany. It was an eventful day for all as they prepared to sail off, however Boatmatch helped make sure everything went as smoothly as possible.
This is the third yacht Boatmatch has sold this year into the German market, we know all the new owners are more than happy with their new boats.

Boatmatch Recipe How to keep the crew happy on your boat
Boatmatch chocolate fudge cake
3 sq. unsweetened chocolate
2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour cream
1 c. boiling water
Melt chocolate in a small bowl over hot water. Cool. Grease and flour two 9 x 1 1/2 inch cake pans.
Sift flour, baking soda and salt onto wax paper. Beat butter until soft, add brown sugar and eggs, beat at high speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in vanilla and cooled melted chocolate.
Stir in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream, beating well with a wooden spoon after each addition until batter is smooth. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour into pans.
Bake at 350 for 35 minutes or until center springs back when lightly pressed with fingertips.
Cool on wire racks 10 minutes then turn out onto racks.

Dear Sir, when I decided to take the plunge and buy my first boat, I thought the best approach was to trawl the internet. Via email and on line forms, I contacted 17 brokers on 22 different boats I had seen advertised.
