 History of Sweden Yachts

It all started in 1976 with a yacht (Sverige) that was built for America’s Cup. Since then, Sweden Yachts has developed into being one of the world’s leading producers of luxurious, high quality sailing yachts, helping customers to find and participate in buying the boat of their dreams. Sweden Yachts is represented by people with ambitions to construct, produce and sell the best yachts, and they never compromise about quality.
The yard is located in Stenungsund Sweden, where they produce 25-30 yachts/year, each of them influenced by the buyers ideas and thoughts. We sell only directly from the yard without agent involvement, this is important to us since it means that we get a closer relationship with our customers making each boat unique.

The Sweden Yachts range

Sweden Yachts now build boats in the range from 40 to 80 feet, each with their own characteristics but with one thing in common; excellent quality throughout, and sailing performance above expectations. Every Sweden yacht is designed and built to comply with European CE Boat Category A, an ocean-going vessel. The Park Avenue boom was created by Sweden Yachts, which blends the favourable attributes of a regular boom with a furler boom. The carbon fibre/epoxy boom eases the manipulation and maintains adjustability of the main sail. A Sweden Yachts 45 yacht had a “Round the Island Race” first place finish in Cowes, Island of Wight, UK

Popular Sweden Models

The Sweden Yachts 40 is due to be launched in 2008, the first six having already been sold. The Sweden Yachts 40 combines modern design and materials with traditional comfort and high performance. The Sweden Yachts 40 builds on the same successful concepts as the Sweden Yachts 42 and 45, with the same live aboard comfort. This includes the much favoured "easy to handle" sail plan with self-tacking jib. Every Sweden Yacht 40 will be built to the owner’s specification, with choices of installations to match any desire for ease of handling, speed and comfort. The high standard specification can be extended with different keel and rig options.

The Sweden Yachts 40 is so well-behaved that you can experience the sailing pleasure solo, whenever you feel like it. The self-tacking jib, a large mainsail on a 14/15 fractional rig with sweptback spreaders, makes handling the boat child’s play. The clever hull design, incorporating new keel and rudder profiles, guarantees top sailing speed. The deck layout, with no unnecessary visible equipment, contributes to the total sailing experience.

The accommodation is luxury class. The Sweden Yachts 40 is available with two different accommodation layouts, so you can be sure of finding the one that matches your dreams and expectations. When you choose a Sweden Yachts 40 you are selecting a yacht with an imposing personality. And as with all Sweden Yachts vessels, the craftsmanship is top class. The skilled work and artistry behind every feature lend an individual quality and appearance to each yacht.

A Sweden Yachts 40 is built using only the best Boat Speed, knots materials, fittings, furnishings and equipment. Every item is selected with the utmost care to meet our standards, to give owners the highest levels of performance, durability, comfort and appearance. In short, every item is selected with excellence in mind, so as to contribute to a harmonious whole.

This is probably the best-sailing 42-footer ever built. A bold statement, perhaps. But Sweden Yachts are convinced of its truth. Because when they design a new yacht, they always do their utmost to give it optimum sailing characteristics. Every feature on a Sweden Yachts 42, from the shape of the hull to the design of the rig, works together as a harmonious whole. The result – a 42-footer that is unmatched for sailing. Set out on your first cruise in a Sweden Yachts 42 and you’ll know what we mean – immediately. It is a fast sail yacht and it performs beyond expectations. It’s a yacht for serious yachtsmen, not landlubbers. In short, it gives you more performance per foot.

The Sweden Yachts 42 has been designed for all round sailing, being a dream to steer and behaving just as well on short active racing tacks as on laid back cruises downwind. The self- tacking jib contributes to great performance and facilitates single-handed sailing.

The Sweden Yachts 42 cockpit is spacious and designed for maximum efficiency and comfort when sailing and when entertaining family and friends.

Everything on the Sweden Yachts 42 has been designed for comfort and convenience, and on top of excellent sailing, you will find that the good living afloat has not been neglected. There are three double berths, a first class galley, two heads with showers and a saloon for relaxing and entertaining. The interior has a cosy elegance and the finish is excellent, durable and contributes to the special ‘Sweden Yachts atmosphere’.

The Sweden Yachts 42 is a very fast sailing yacht. There are times when this sleek wind lover feels more like a match-racer than a 42-foot yacht. It reacts to sail changes like a thoroughbred. Acceleration under full sail is attention-grabbing. And because the Sweden Yachts 42 has been designed for true sailing performance, it’s a dream to steer. It behaves just as well on short active racing tacks as on laid-back cruises downwind. But the selftacking jib really comes into its own when short tacking under tough, upwind conditions.

The cockpit has been designed for maximum efficiency and comfort, whether under sail or in harbour. The helm and the winches are positioned for fast, exact operation with minimum effort. All seats are covered with top quality teak, specially selected from sources that guarantee that the wood was grown under the control of environmental authorities. The whole cockpit layout is the result of years of ongoing studies, development and testing. No effort has been spared to create the ultimate cockpit environment for the sailing yachtsman and crew.

It’s not hard to find your own favourite spot on board a Sweden Yachts 42. And wherever you seat yourself you’ll be cosseted in a magnificently crafted interior in mahogany, or other fine woods like teak or cherrywood. Every piece of wood is varnished at least six times before they are fitted together into modules. “It takes two weeks to build up the required coats of varnish on each piece of wood but the result is a beautiful finish that is as good as I have seen on any yacht.” Tim Thomas, Yachting World, Volume 9, 2002. The floorboards are carefully insulated to eliminate the slightest creak. The upholstery is specified by the yacht owner.

Comfortable, with a touch of pure luxury – a fitting description of life on board a Sweden Yachts 42. Although this yacht is primarily built for active sailing, it is also a very convincing advocate of good living afloat. Everything is in its right place – easy to find, easy to use. A handsome saloon for entertaining, three double cabins, and two head compartments with shower let you live as well afloat as ashore. There is locker and stowage space aplenty, and room prepared for special equipment – icemaker, custom-made drinks cabinets, or any other requirements you might have. The galley itself will make any experienced cook more than a little envious. Everything has been designed for your comfort and convenience, giving you the high standard of onboard living you desire. Whatever your tastes, good food adds immeasurably to the joys of life. On a Sweden Yachts 42, the good food experience means the whole process – from stowing the ingredients, through cooking and serving, to the ambience of the dining area. In line with this, the galley is top-class, equipped with everything you need from cooker and oven to refrigerator and freezer. Everything is in its place, within comfortable reach. The smooth, easy to clean Corian® surfaces will help you, your family or crew to keep the cooking area shining clean. Whether you are a gourmet chef or just handy in the kitchen, you will find that the galley of a Sweden Yachts 42 enables you to match the meal to the moment, without compromise.

Naturally, a Sweden yacht 42 comes with two heads – a master head compartment in the forepeak, fully equipped with shower and toilet, and an aft head compartment serving the two aft cabins. The second head compartment is of course just as well equipped as the one in the forepeak. The forward shower compartment has a hatch, which can be opened to vent away any damp from the shower and adjoining master cabin. The hatch also serves as an emergency exit. The interiors of the washrooms and shower areas echo the design philosophy of the whole yacht – design for functional performance in combination with eye-appeal.

Whenever a design a new Sweden yacht is designed, Sweden Yachts always strive to achieve the best possible sailing characteristics for a boat of that particular size. In this way, the Sweden Yachts 45 carries on and embellishes the proud heritage of Sweden Yachts. Every detail, from the shape of the hull to the design of the rig, works together as a harmonious whole, creating an unmatched yacht for serious sailing. Sail and rig handling have been simplified to minimise effort and add more pleasure to the whole sailing experience. The cockpit is ergonomically designed, giving the helmsman a relaxed, well-balanced environment even under really tough conditions in open sea, hard weather sailing.

The Sweden Yachts 45 is a fast yacht. The design team, Peter Norlin and Jens Östman, set out to create the most exciting 45-footer ever built. And owners agree that they have succeeded. “Sailing a Sweden Yachts 45 makes you feel good” is a frequent comment from owners and the lucky yachtsmen who have been invited on board for a test cruise. So it is no coincidence that the Sweden Yachts 45 was elected “Sailboat of the Year 2000” by the international yachting magazine SAIL.

“One of the most memorable sails of my life. In 20-25 knots of wind we sliced through the rest of the fleet at eight knots upwind. Steady as a rock, we pushed her through tack after tack, experimenting to gain maximum speed. Get the timing wrong and she would spin out, unless you dumped the mainsail. Huge fun.” Roger Brydges, UK Government’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch, sailing the Sweden Yachts 45 off the west coast of Sweden.

The Sweden Yachts 45 has a cockpit designed for maximum comfort and efficiency, both when sailing and in harbour, as a result of constant development based on years of experience. The winches are positioned for exact operation demanding minimum effort, and combined with the simplified rig and sail handling, it adds even more pleasure to the sailing experience.

The interior of the Sweden Yachts 45 is designed and crafted with the same high quality of material and attention to detail as the other models of Sweden Yachts. The Sweden Yachts 45 is spacious, with a concept created to reflect the famous magic Nordic light. The wood is oil-varnished to perfection, creating a finish that is difficult to find anywhere else. To add to the harmonious on- board living, there is a first class galley, with durable, easy to clean corean surfaces and first class quality equipment. Light or slightly darker mahogany, or other fine woods like teak and cherrywood are crafted into a complete interior. With inlaid woodwork details accentuating the whole effect. Superior craftsmanship is the keynote throughout. Every piece of wood is oil varnished five times before being fitted together into modules. The floorboards are carefully insulated to eliminate the slightest creaking. Upholstery is specified by the yacht owner, in a Scandinavian design concept based on the principle that “less is more”. The whole atmosphere is one of Nordic Light, the same magic light captured by Scandinavian painters at Skagen, Denmark, at the end of the 19th century.

A Sweden Yachts 45 is primarily built for sailing, but it is also a yacht for luxurious living afloat. Functionality and comfort rule the quarters below deck. The yacht is really spacious, with a roomy saloon for entertaining, three double cabins and two generous head compartments with shower. There is locker and stowage space aplenty, and space prepared for several custom-made glass and drinks cabinets and an ice-maker.
The galley itself would shame many a modern apartment for design, equipment and convenience. Everything, in fact, is planned and crafted to bring extra comfort and pleasure to your leisure on board the Sweden Yachts 45.

Food is an important part of harmonious living. Not just eating the various dishes, but the whole ritual of preparing the food. The galley on board the Sweden Yachts 45 is really first class. It is equipped with everything you need from an oven to a refrigerator and freezer. There is even space prepared for a microwave and ice-maker. Everything is in its place, within comfortable reach. With smooth, easy to clean corean surfaces to help you and your family or crew to keep the cooking area as nice and shining as the rest of the yacht.

Who would come up with the idea of designing a head compartment with shower in the forepeak of a yacht. It’s a really brilliant idea. The forward shower compartment of the Sweden Yachts 45 has a skylight, which can be opened to vent away any damp from the shower and neighbouring owner’s cabin. The skylight also serves as an emergency exit. The Sweden Yachts 45 has two head compartments, each with its own shower. The interior of the washroom and shower areas follows up the design philosophy of the whole yacht. Design as a matter of functionality, with clean lines for extra quality and good looks.

The Sweden Yachts 45 is, of course, designed as a superior sailing yacht. But, we have also remembered the importance of entertaining guests and relaxing with the family. The cockpit is spacious to allow you, your family and guests to sit very comfortably when socializing or just enjoying the view. Care for a dip in the sea? The folding section in the 45’s stern is easy to swim from, it provides a good shower point and it simplifies handling the tender or inflatable dinghy.

The Sweden Yachts 45 is equipped with only the best. Every item and detail is selected with outmost care to meet the highest standards. The Sweden Yachts 45 combines excellent sailing characteristics with first class design and craftsmanship.

The Sweden Yachts 54 is Sweden Yachts’ relatively new high performance cruiser; designed for the connoisseur yachtsman, seeking the ultimate combination of simplistic handling, high build quality and fast passage making. The Sweden Yachts 54 handles just as well on short active racing tacks as it does when leisurely cruising downwind on a sunny day. In fact, it is so well behaved that you can experience the sailing pleasure solo, whenever you feel like it. So even if they would prefer not to miss the fun, be selfish – treat yourself, and give the crew a day off now and then.

One glance at the perfect lines of a Sweden Yachts 54, and you are bound to fall in love. Every line and plane says speed and beauty, like a thoroughbred champing at the bit. The impression is striking, to say the least! As on all Sweden Yachts, every detail is in perfect balance, from the shape of the hull to the design of the rig. With everything working together as a harmonious whole to create the best performing luxury 54-footer available, because the Sweden Yachts 54 is designed for performance sailing right from the start.

Aboard the Sweden Yachts 54 the helmsman comes first. Every feature is positioned for precise operation with the minimum effort. And like every other aspect of this striking beauty, the comfort and ergonomics of the cockpit are superb.

The Sweden Yachts 54 builds on the successful Sweden Yachts concepts deployed with its medium size yachts, with the added size and amenities for extended passages and live aboard comfort. This includes the favoured self-tacking jib and opportunities for “push button” sailing. Every Sweden Yachts 54 will be built to the owner’s specification, with choices of installations to match any desire for ease of handling, speed and comfort. Functionality and comfort rule the below-deck quarters. The living space is more than generous, with three double cabins, two large head compartments with shower, a roomy saloon, and a galley that is an invitation to cordon blue cooking. Everything onboard the Sweden Yachts 54 has been planned and crafted to give you the pleasure of comfort aplenty.

“Nowhere do you get more luxury boat for your money than at Sweden Yachts”: Ference Máté, author of The World’s Best Sailboats.

The Sweden Yachts 54 is sheer class throughout. The pure lines of the Swedish design idiom are evident in every detail, with everything quietly reflecting our yacht design philosophy: strive for the ultimate. Experience the sophisticated elegance, the superb level of equipment and the unique ambience of a Sweden Yachts 54 for yourself and you are sure to agree that we have come within a whisker of perfection. The only surprise awaiting you when you invest in a Sweden Yachts 54 is that it will exceed your expectations and wildest flights of fancy. You may call it luxury. For us, it is standard. The Sweden Yachts 54 is, of course a superior sailing yacht. But this doesn’t mean that we have discounted the importance of relaxed onboard life with your family and friends, or entertaining guests in impressive comfort. Every feature of the accommodations of a Sweden Yachts 54 is designed for the maximum of comfort and enjoyment

“Why build an ugly looking yacht when you can build a beautiful one?” These words by our previous chief designer, Jens Östman, sum up the whole design philosophy of Sweden Yachts. The sophisticated below-deck accommodations of the Sweden Yachts 54 are a masterpiece of interior design. This is where you can enjoy the good life at its best. The whole atmosphere is one of harmony and natural beauty. The carpentry is so skilled and meticulous that every wooden feature seems to have grown straight out of the solid timber. The generous portlights let the light stream into the saloon, accentuating the beauty of the appointments and the special Sweden Yachts 54 ambience.

When you choose a Sweden Yachts 54 you are selecting a yacht with an imposing personality. The master craftsmanship and artistry behind every feature lend an individual quality and appearance to each yacht. Step on board a Sweden Yachts 54 and you instinctively feel the pride and devotion of the craftsmen who built it. Every piece of wood is oil varnished up to ten times before being fitted together. The teak selected by our master joiner for the cockpit and deck is finished to a miracle of smoothness. And we guarantee that we use only teak grown under the control of environmental authorities. Sailing is, of course, a lifestyle choice that leaves a unique imprint on every yachtsman. The Sweden Yachts 54 is a lifetime choice that reflects your unique personality and leaves your imprint on the world about you. The new Sweden Yachts 54 will be built to modern composite material standards, using carbon fibres and vinylester for increased strength and endurance with reduced weight. We must admit that we are fanatics when it comes to boat building. No detail is too small to be taken into account. Quality is our hallmark. The superb comfort you find onboard is the result of uncompromising efforts to exceed your expectations. Speed in the water is swift, of course, and something we are used to hearing owners discussing with pride.

The high standard specification can, among others, be extended with different keel and rig options as well as retractable thrusters, bow and stern. A Sweden Yachts 54 is built using only the best materials, fittings, furnishings and equipment. Every item is selected with the utmost care to meet our standards – the highest levels of performance, durability, comfort and appearance. In short, every item is selected with excellence in mind, so as to contribute to a harmonious whole.

The first Sweden Yachts 54 was launched on April 21 2007.

The Sweden Yacht 70 is built for an owner who is looking for something very special, for the owner can customize the yacht to a very large extent. The Sweden Yachts 70 has the same classic lines as old fashioned yachts and her appearance is extremely attractive. The Sweden Yachts 70 sails beautifully due to the modern underwater shape, the rig, and the shallow draft wing-keel. The construction methods make her light, strong and very reliable.

The yacht is designed by Norlin Ostman, who created a 70-footer with classic hull lines and with an interior of extreme comfort. The quality and design below as well as above the deck is of world class. The Sweden Yachts 70 is beautiful to watch but there is more to her than meets the eye. Ference Mate wrote in ‘The World’s Best Sailboats 2’ that:

”There simply are no interiors more pure, practical, or sophisticated than those of Sweden Yachts

"Nowhere do you get more luxury boat for your money than at Sweden Yachts”

The Sweden Yachts 70 carries with her the successful combination of elegance, functionality and quality in the upper luxury class category, characteristics that have become the image and reputation of Sweden Yachts

The Sweden Yachts 80 is a cruiser/ racer designed to offer a combination of cruising capabilities and thoroughbred racing performance. New technology has been used in the hull and deck construction and the interior for weight savings. The Sweden Yachts 80 is rigged with a 4-swept spreader carbon fibre mast with a Park Avenue boom, centre cockpit and single or twin steering. The four-cabin plan accommodates the owners cabin in the aft for privacy and comfort, two further guest cabins and crew quarter. Sweden Yachts 80s are built to owner's specification without limitations.

The deck and hull of the Sweden Yachts 340, above the waterline, are constructed of end grain balsa core sandwiched between hand laid fiberglass mat and roving. The result is a hull which is stiff, extremely strong, yet light in displacement. The hull below the waterline is strengthened with an integrated bottom reinforcement system designed and engineered to absorb and distribute stresses developed by the mast step, rigging, and the keel. The entire length of the hull to deck joint is first glued, then laminated together internally and finally the toe rail, formed to secure the teak decking, is fitted and bolted through on 3” centers. The 12 mm teak decking is hand shaped, glued with a special aggregate and screwed to the deck. Stresses developed by the standing rigging are absorbed and distributed to the main bulkheads by an ingenious under-deck beam system. All bulkheads are marine plywood double-laminated to the hull and deck resulting in maximum strength and security. The lead-antimony keel (fin or shoal draft wing) is fastened to the hull by nine stainless steel bolts through large plate washers. All internal joinery is built and finished with three coats of varnish under ideal conditions – outside the hull – and then installed only after passing rigorous inspection. Wiring is run through conduits above the water line and hoses through channels below the floorboards. Salon ports are constructed of double framed tempered glass. The salon deck head is covered with padded units which can be easily removed if necessary. All interior fiberglass surfaces are ground smooth and top coated.

On deck modern streamlined design and sound workmanship are united. The teak deck with classic details contrasts the clean white surfaces framing the deck hatches, ports, winches and deck fittings. The cockpit coaming rises unobtrusively from the side decks. The foredeck provides ample space for an anchor windlass above the anchor locker, which is spacious, and includes a shelf for lines and fenders. All running rigging is led aft to cockpit winches. Instruments fit neatly into the pod above the companionway.

The galley, a vital workplace on board the Sweden Yachts 340, has been thought out in minute detail, the propane stove and oven, double sinks with pressure water, fresh and salt water foot pumps, over and under cabinets, drawers, cutting board, waste basket and broad work surfaces are all right at hand. The 160-litre moulded ice-box is well partitioned and drains into its own sump and is the roomiest and most practical to be found on any 34 footed at the time. All built with the greatest care and craftsmanship in mahogany, stainless and formica.

The Sweden Yachts 340 is the result of a huge effort to develop and build a unique 34 footer. It was designed to maximize and utilize interior spaces as well as use new materials and improved building methods. These are the physical elements in an un-compromisingly high – quality approach. Equipment has been chosen with care and all the designs have been thoroughly tested resulting in the deck layout and cockpit being further refined.

The Sweden Yachts 340’s beautiful hull and remarkable sailing characteristics are the result of Peter Norlin’s experience and talent. Lloyds has inspected, approved and certified the construction which the skilled hands at Sweden Yachts have built.

The finest qualities of the Sweden Yachts 340 are speed, high pointing, stability and tracking. The displacement and rig are perfectly balanced providing a fast yet stiff boat. The balanced elliptical rudder gives full control in any situation. The Sweden Yachts 340 is beautiful in fine weather and sure-footed in a blow making it ideal for coastal holiday sailing, Atlantic crossings or weekend club racing.

The spacious salon is hospitable, light and airy. The extensive joinery compliments the light deck-head and beautiful upholstery. All interior surfaces are finished and sealed from moisture. The settees, with ample vented stowage below, provide comfortable seating for eight at the salon table. Bottle stowage and glass holders, lockers and bookshelves are all within arms reach. The teak and holly cabin sole is free of obstructions and the keel stepped mast does not intrude. Forward, there is a large double-hanging locker to port, in the well appointed forepeak. The head is the model of efficiency and yet it is spacious and very attractive. A teak seat covers the head whilst the shower drains through a teak grate to an overboard discharge pump. All thru-hulls are easily accessible under the vanity. Mirrored cabinets, hand rail and towel holders provide unexpected finishing touches.

The navigators station with chart table, adjustable seat, hinged instrument panel, chart stowage and trays for those essential odds and ends is exemplary. Directly aft, the large owners cabin is light and airy. The king-size berth is complimented by the settee, opening ports, hanging locker and shelves. The maximum beam is well aft resulting in a large and comfortable cockpit. The wheel steering, self tailing winches by the helmsman and a coach roof mainsheet traveler make for efficient and easy handling. The cockpit seats have high back rests and cave lockers to port and starboard. The helmsman’s seat, with abundant stowage below, moves outboard to the rail ensuring comfort in a seaway and excellent visibility forward.

Graceful lines, a lofty double spreader rig, sails trimmed and drawing, finger-tip control, the Sweden Yachts 340 glides through the water with barely a hint of disturbance in her wake.

The Sweden Yachts 36 was produced from 1984 to 1992 and was replaced by Sweden Yachts 370. A total of 74 Sweden Yachts 36 was built before the 370 came in to production.

Sweden Yachts 36 has excellent sailing characteristics combined with comfort, beauty and quality. The interior is typical for Sweden Yachts with excellent finish, roomy living space, a high quality galley and plenty of storage space. There can be over 10 people seated for dinner around the table in the saloon in two L-shaped sofas.

Every inch of the Sweden Yachts 36 is packed with sailing speed, just compare the IOR rating of the Sweden Yachts 36 to that of her rivals. But let’s face it, speed isn’t everything. You are looking for beauty as well and the Sweden Yachts 36 has that classic beauty that will be admired for years to come. The rigging is designed to take on a lot of sail, making the well-balanced hull fairly cut through the water. Here is a boat built to bring joy to the heart of the most experienced competition sailor. It truly is a boat for any wind! The spacious, clean deck area is laid in lustrous teak and the same goes for the comfortable roomy cockpit. All the rigging, the winches and the deck equipment are of the first class quality. Looking at the outside you wouldn’t believe the room you’ll find inside the Sweden Yacht 36! Other boats with as much inside space are several feet longer. The mahogany interior is lacquered to a perfect satiny luster that will last for years. The interior quarters on board are divided into three separate living units. In the fore-peak you’ll find a cabin with double bed, sail storage area, closets and a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The salon is furnished with two L-shaped sofas seating up to ten people around the large folding table. Farther back is a space with plenty of room for both navigation instruments and navigator. Finally there’s the galley where you’ll find everything needed to turn out lots of good food both quickly and easily. In the aft, separate and undisturbed, is the owners cabin. Both a single bunk and a double bed await the tired sailor. So no matter whether you prefer the fierce competition of a sailboat race or a relaxing vacation at sea, a Sweden Yachts 36 is the answer.

The Sweden Yachts 36 is suitable both for racing and cruising, it combines excellent necessary details for both and performs as well in any kind of wind.

The Sweden Yacht 36 has a classic look and its design is still admired around the world, and will probably be for many years to come.

The Sweden Yachts 370 is a true sailing yacht designed for shorthanded sailing, she also handles beautifully with a full crew with high demands on functionality and elegance.

Efficient and well functioning rig and deck layout - and the cockpit is a treat, whether you are sailing in rough conditions or entertaining guests in the marina. Many good ideas onboard and a never- ending attention to detail.

The accommodation design of the Sweden Yachts 370 makes full use of every inch of space to create unusually airy and spacious accommodation for a boat of this size – and the small thoughtful details are a delight. The double fore cabin and double aft cabin provide generous space for the sailing family and leave the comfortably pleasing salon free for socializing. When you have guests aboard the salon turns into a comfortable two berth cabin.

Marine grade waterproof core with selected mahogany facing is used in all bulkheads and major joinery. The finest solid mahogany is used for frames and doors and all main hull sides are paneled in mahogany. The oiled cabin sole is in teak with light wood intarsia. All joinery is oil varnished until fully fibre-fed, resulting in the ultra smooth surfaces providing a true satin finish. The only way to guarantee the interior of your boat will grow more beautiful with the fullness of time.

Deck and hull of end-grain balsa core sandwiched between hand-laid fiberglass rowing and mar to provide an extremely strong, rigid yet light construction. The teak decking is specially selected and hand-laid, bonded to the deck with polyurethane and secured by stainless steel screws. The hull and deck are bonded with polyester filler and the aluminium toe rail is bolted through the deck and hull flange and scaled. The lead – antimony keel is secured with cast-in stainless steel bolts with a hoisting lug fastened to the keel bolts for convenient lifting. The balanced spade runner is designed for maximum reliability, accuracy and fingertip control and is moulded in fiberglass using rowing and mat for maximum strength. The rudder stock is of stainless steel with two upper roller bearings and a bronze bearing in the heel. The quiet, smooth running 3-cylinder Volvo Penta MD 2030 is mounted on a glass fibre bed, moulded integrally with the bottom reinforcement and filled with heavy ballast for maximum stability.

The steel beam system, specially designed by Sweden Yachts, allows heavy rigging loads to be taken by the bulkheads without the need for additional internal reinforcement. The tempered glass ports have double aluminium frames.

The wiring runs through conduits above the water line, while hoses are laid through ducts placed below the floorboards. Winches and heavy deck fittings are reinforced with plywood core and heavy backing plates. The stainless steel mast step is bolted to the integrated bottom reinforcement system which absorbs and distributes forces from the mast, rigging and keel. All features providing the best in safety, paired with the best in sailing performance.

The Sweden Yachts 370 is a family yacht developed for sailing performance and comfort. It has been born and bred from the yard’s generations of boat building experience and designed by the Peter Norlin/Jens Ostmann team. Its clean lines and functional deck and superstructure are truly beautiful to behold, while the interior layout and myriad ingenious solutions aboard will bring pleasure and enjoyment to all family members.

In 1986 we introduced Sweden Yachts 38 of which we built almost 100 boats. In 1991 Sweden Yachts substituted the Sweden Yachts 38 with Sweden Yachts 390.

The Sweden Yachts 38 has a comfortable salon has well contoured settees with rounded corners, sloped backs and thick firm cushions as comfortable as any sofa, and huge table that can seat eight people. The forward cabin provides a more comfortable berth. The aft cabins are truly excellent. The port side one has a large airy double berth with hanging locker and a seat and the other a good-sized single. The Sweden Yachts 37 is very well appointed and will give you a comfortable second home. This degree of luxury is especially important for long distance sailing: the Sweden Yachts 38 will meet your highest expectations. The interior is finished in solid mahogany, the fabrics are both durable and attractive, the cabins are functional for living on board both at sea and in harbour.

The Sweden Yachts 38 is a pure sailing yacht with modern, racy lines but a classical beauty with which will last through the years. The mast and rig are well dimensioned to carry the large sail area; this, combined with the modern hull lines, gives the yacht an amazing turn of speed, even in the lightest wind. The Sweden Yachts 38 has a very favourable IOR rating and she is extremely competitive at all levels of racing. The cockpit, deck and coach roof are all teak laid as standard in the Continental version. With regard to equipment, only the best has been considered good enough, from the extra big winches down to the smallest shackle. In the cockpit there is ample room for everyone on board, the companionway has been designed to be especially comfortable and protected.

The feeling of luxury and comfort aboard is absolute, and you can enjoy extended periods of exciting sailing without feeling crowded a sense of space and privacy has been achieved by separating the saloon, galley and navigation area from the three luxurious and well proportioned cabins. When there are guests the saloon is large enough to entertain up to ten people around the satin finished mahogany table; the settees are warm and offer the comfort of any fireside armchair. Few performance yachts can offer the same deck space as the Sweden Yachts 38. Pictures can not do justice to this beautiful craft – only a personal inspection of every minute detail will reveal the thought, preparation and craftsmanship which made the Sweden Yachts 38 a masterpiece.

The Sweden Yachts 390 - cruiser / racer go anywhere yacht, perfectly balanced in any conditions, fast, safe, lovely lines, strenght and quality in every respect.

The interior of the 390 will mature beautifully with each passing year thanks to the traditional craftmanship of our skilled boatbuilders. Each piece of wood is selected with the greatest care and oil varnished until fully fibre fed, with resultant silk-smooth surfaces. All the joinery is made, treated and finished outside the boat to obtain the finest possible quality workmanship. Whilst this is expensive and labour consuming work it is the only kind to provide an attractively enhanced patina in the wood with the passage of time. Below decks the Sweden Yachts 390 is comfortable, light and roomy, fitted-out with well designed equipment and ingenious solutions. The double aft cabins, together with the forecabin, provide three separate sleeping cabins and leave the elegant salon free for socializing and other activities.

The navigation area features Sweden Yachts moulded, detachable instrument panel for electronic equipment on hinges for easy service access and winter storage which is always highly appreciated by Sweden Yachts Owners. The navigation chair slides back and forth and adjusts to the angle of heel. There is also a large, separate chart compartment above the instrument panel.

The light and airy head with mirrored walls is built as an easy to clean, single unit. It can be entered from either the salon or the forecabin. Fittings include a built-in cupboard and a separate shower which can be pulled up through the hatch onto the deck if required.

The galley is an efficient work place with generous stowage space and many practical details like the 160 litre fridge. It is fully equipped as a first class galley should be.

The hull is extremely strong and rigid yet light because its made from end-grain balsa sandwiched between hand-laid fiberglass rowing and mat. The 12mm teak decking is specially selected and hand laid, it is then bonded to the deck with urethane and secured with stainless steel screws. Below the waterline the integrated bottom reinforcement system absorbs and distributes stress forces from the mast step, rigging and keel. The hull and deck are bonded with polyester filler and the toe rail is bolted throughthe deck and hull flange and sealed. Winch and major deck fitting positions are reinforced with plywood core or large backing plates and washers. A specially developed steel beam system allows heavy rig loads to be distributed to the bulkheads without the need for additional internal reinforcements. The lead-antimony fin keel, or wing keel for ease of handling, is secured with nine heavy cast-in stainless bolts and double welded washers. The hoisting lug is fastened to the keel bolts for simpler lifting. The rudder, with its stainless steel rudder stock construction, is supported by two upper roller bearings and one bronze bearing in the heel, and built for maximum safety and fingertip steering. The tempered glass ports have double aluminium frames whilst the wiring runs through conduits above the water line and in hoses through channels below the floorboards.

The cockpit has long comfortable bench seats with high backs There are large, ergonomically positioned winches for easy sheet and halyard handling from the cleverly designed helmsmans position.

With all the best of materials, workmanship and care to details, the Sweden Yachts 41 will take you through the roughest weather with the same unbeatable elegance that has made all her owners wax lyrical about her. The lines of the hull were created on the drafting board of Peter Norlin. He designed a boat with exceptional speed in it and yet, at the same time, with a classical beauty that will stand the test of time. The spacious, uncluttered deck is laid in selected teak. Even the cockpit is in teak. In the cockpit there is room enough for the entire crew while sailing or at meals.

The interior is made of mahogany and teak throughout. The forepeak houses comfortable beds, closets, and full-height shower and toilet area. The inviting plush sofas of the salon provide ample seating for 10 people around the large dining table. The navigation seat is a swiveling chair in the roomy navigation area. Cooking in the galley of the Sweden Yachts 41 is a pleasure. All the equipment you need has been provided and the ceiling is full height.

As an owner of a Sweden Yachts 50, you can take pride in your boat in any waters, and wherever you find yourself, be ready to receive the admiring comments of fellow sailors and passesr-by in marinas.

The traditional main cabin arrangement of the Sweden Yachts 50; to port the dinette, seating up to 8 people in great comfort, is located on a slightly raised area of the cabin sole. The clean deck layout begins with the large comfortable cockpit and the companionway that leads straight and simply from it down into the main cabin.

The Galley is well laid out and works just as well on a syotmy night when you need a mug of hot soup as at anchor in some snug cove when you have a gourmet dinner to prepare. Besides lots of cold storage space, with wire baskets for good order, theer is more extra-insulated space for a deep-freeze; a total volume of 310 litres. The three-burner stove has a pull-out extractor fan; serving trays store upright next to the eye-level fridge. The huge pull-out chopping board is solid teak. Kitchen things stow away easily – you have all the space you need, for spaghetti saucepans to teaspoons, in the five drawers and nine cabinets that contain in all a storage volume of 850 litres.

Just aft of the chart table, wet oilskins and boots stow away in a drained locker fitted with a ventilating fan. The optional heating unit has an outlet here, to make this a drying locker. At the table, everything the navigator needs lies close at hand. A flat locker under the deckhead holds charts, books stand in a shelf at table level, other equipment stores in lockers at or under the table, or in a set of drawers. Hand tools fit under a section of the cabin sole by the foot of the swiveling chair. The lower part of the instrument panel is for gauges, fuses and switches, and the upper part is for electronics. To make service as easy as possible, the panel hinges down to give access to the instrumentation behind it.

The helmsman’s benches are easy to open and give access to stowage space. The forepeak sail-storage hatch closes flush with the deck. The anchor winch is fitted under the deck right forward. All surfaces to tread or sit on are clad in teak. The helmsman can choose to sit windward or leeward while the ergonometrically formed saddle aft of the wheel inverts into a similarly designed bucket seat. Turning lightly in two sets of ball bearings, the wheel conveys a precise feel of the helm. All important instruments and engine controls are close by, and the primary winches are near at hand and aholly visible. This is ideal for the cruising skipper.

The clean deck layout begins with the large comfortable cockpit and the companionway that leads straight and simply from it down into the main cabin. Turning blocks at the foot of the mast lead halyards to winches on the outboard edges of the coach roof. The sun deck extends most of the way forward to the mast. The side decks are clear, with fittings placed along the edges or on the railings. All deck fittings are by leading suppliers, or have been specially designed and made, and all the standard winches are self-tailing.

The Owners Cabin is located just forward of the mast ensuring all the space you could wish in the quietest part of the boat. Three hatches provide light, ventilation and a quick passageway to the deck in an emergency. The double berth is wide and long, and its interior-spring mattress ensures a good sleep in any weather. Lockers and shelves are at hand to store all you need; with a place for a stereo radio, too. There are large drawers under the berth. To starboard is more personal locker space including a dressing table and its own seat. The private head has a corian wash basin, a shower, mirrors, lockers, indirect lighting and the very finest fittings. The hot and cold water supply is pressurized, and a pump empties the separate shower bilge.

The guest cabins, accommodating two couples in great comfort, have hanging and other lockers, in addition to book shelves and tables; personal lockers are elegantly inset into the table tops. Three skylights afford good lighting and ventilation. The boat offers your guests a personal, shipshape welcome on board. Each cabin has its own entrance and its own access to the shared head. Located low down and far aft on the centre line of the boat, this is the seagoing head: well ventilated, roomy but not too wide and with handholds everywhere. It has indirect lighting, a corian wash basin, shower facilities, mirrors, cabinets and hot and cold pressurized water.

The three separate deck stowage lockers are all important for this long-range cruiser – one right for-ward, two in the cockpit. The bow locker has a flush-deck hatch and lies forward of a watertight GPR collision bulkhead. The windlass and chain bin are separated from spaces for ropes and sail bags. The cockpit lockers, under the helmsman’s benches, are easy to get at. Gas bottles fit in a separate compartment in the centre.

Weight distribution in the Sweden Yachts 50 contributes to sailing performance. Stainless steel water tanks (700 l) and the engine, at the centre of buoyancy, and batteries just forward of the mast, lie 2 feet below the waterline. The Sweden Yachts 50 has a maximum of 1.2 tons of internal ballast. The system of GRP beams and floors absorbs the static and dynamic forces from the mast, rigging and keel. This allows the boat, with side supports, to stand on her keel on land.

A hidden secret of the spaciousness of the main cabin is the two light but strong steel beams that run beneath the deck between bulkheads fore and aft of the mast. Incorporating the chain plates, the structure as a whole absorbs all rigging forces. The deck carries no load. The cabin volume is thus free from tie-rods and bulky reinforcements, and the chain plates are entirely watertight. This unique arrangement is fundamental to all boats from Sweden Yachts.

The deck and hull are constructed of end grain balsa core sandwiched between hand-laid fiberglass roving and mat. The result is a hull which is stiff, extremely strong, yet light in displacement. The hull below the water line is strengthened with an integrated bottom reinforcement system designed and engineered to absorb and distribute stresses developed by the mast step, rigging and keel. The entire length of the hull to deck joint is first glued, then laminated together internally and finally the toe rail, formed to secure the teak decking, is fitted and bolted through on 3 inch centres. The 12 mm teak decking, specially selected, is hand shaped, glued with a special aggregate and screwed to the deck. All bulkheads are in marine plywood double-laminated to the hull and deck to give maximum strength and security. The lead-antimony keel (fin or shoal-draft wing) is fastened to the hull by fourteen stainless steel bolts through large plate washers. Built outside the hull under ideal conditions, all internal joinery is finished with three coats of varnish; before installation, it must pass a rigorous inspection. Wiring runs through conduits above the water line; hoses run through channels below the floorboards. Cabin ports are constructed of double framed tempered glass. The deck-head is covered with padded units which can be easily removed if necessary. All interior fiberglass surfaces are ground smooth and top-coated twice. Delivered with a Lloyds Certificate.

The Sweden Yachts 52 is a well-proportioned yacht for serious cruising whilst being equally appropriate for a short, comfortable overnight jaunt. Combining elegance, functionality and quality in upper luxury class dimension with the clean heeled rush of performance that is the hallmark of a Peter Norlin design. Every little thing is of good solid quality. You’ll feel it as you step aboard, that unmistakable ambiance of the best craftsmanship in the world. You’ll feel it as you put out to sea, the unmistakable feeling of security. Comfortable bathrooms (call them heads if you must). The interior caters for every wish, while deck fittings and equipment will satisfy the whim of the most demanding sailor.
