Sailing yacht 'Alexandra' was designed by E.G. Van de Stadt & Partners in 1987 for Mr Rudi Simoons. This design became the prototype of 'stockplan #426' Van de Stadt Samoa-47.
Alexandra was build in aluminium at Aluboot boatyard in Hindeloopen in The Netherlands under Lloyds certification. She was launched in 1989. From 1989 until 1996 the first owner made several trips to Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and along the US East Coast.
In 1998 the current owners departed the Netherlands on 'Alexandra' for a circumnavigation. They sailed via Spain and Portugal, the Caribbean islands, Panama canal and the Pacific Ocean arriving in Australia in 2000. They decided to interupt their circumnavigation and stay longer in the Pacific Ocean.
Several trips were made to New Zealand and on to several Pacific islands (Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caladonia) as well to PNG, Palau and the Philippines.
The North and East coast of Australia have been explored from Darwin in the north to Hobart on the south of Tasmania. Highlights were Sydney and the reefs, cays and islands of the Great Barrier Reef.
After more than 10 years of cruising over more than 50.000 Nm the current crew is preparing for a new challenge. 'Alexandra' has undergone a refit and paint job and is now offered for sale. 'Alexandra' is a proven Van de Stadt blue water sailing yacht. The last eight years have been sailed with a crew of two, but she can easily accommodate four to six persons.
Constantly upgraded, recent major refit.
The Dutch sailing magazine 'Zeilen' voted the Samoa as the best yacht for circumnavigation.
