Gauntlet is a well sorted, well equipped example of the Sigma 38 OOD built in 1989. Her accommodation comprises berths for up to 10 people in 4 cabins. She has the traditional interior with pilot cots either side of the main saloon.

Owner's Comments of the Sigma 38 OOD
Gauntlet is currently set up for cruising, with an excellent spray hood over the companionway and matching black stackpack and lazyjack mainsail handling system as well as a roller furler for her headsail. Nontheless, in 2023, she reverted to race specification to ISAF category 2, and qualified for and took part in the RORC Rolex Fastnet race, sailing in Class 4.
Her current owner purchased her in 2012 and in the ensuing years completed a very significant refit. During this time, her hull stiffening matrix was professionally rebonded to the hull by Yachting Sports Ltd. of Hamble, well renowned and experienced experts in this field. This was completed in 2016. Saloon windows were removed, renovated and rebedded. Saloon headlinings were replaced, and dimmable led lights were istalled in the saloon. Eberspacher cabin heating has also been installed, with heat to aft cabins, saloon and heads.
Seacocks have been replaced in 2018 save for the two aft in the lazarette for the cockpit drains which were replaced in 2022.
A Raymarine autopilot was also fitted, with the ram carefully and correctly installed in the lazarette locker, forward of the gas bottle stowage and the quadrant incorporated in the rudder post clamp.
Also, Gauntlets engine was replaced in 2019 with a Volvo Penta MD2030, manufactured in 2004 with approximately 1000 hours logged.
In 2018, as part of her preparations to take part in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, her mast and boom were replaced. Standing rigging dates to 2016.
Gauntlet has been upgraded with Lithium Ion batteries in place of the standard Lead Acid, and has two 110Ah batteries for the domestic supply. Engine start is from a Lead Acid battery and the whole battery system is charged by both alternator and shore power using a battery to battery charger set up.
An 8 man canister liferaft is also included in the inventory. A separate forestay and racing tuff luff may also be available.
The owners work has taken him abroad, which has prompted the sale of Gauntlet. Her inventory is an attractive proposition for any prospective buyer and her comprehensive and conscientious maintenance programme offers an excellent opportunity.
