Retro Information

Retro Boats carry the promise of being built to the safest and strongest in their class utilizing the most technologically advanced materials possible.

They have taken the classic shape of these vintage models, corrected the original design short comings and included many modern features to result in an updated design.

Retro Boats now manufactures a long lasting, trouble free watercraft constructed with the newest materials and processes while still retaining that nostalgic look.

Innovations
From the completion of the updated design and mold, the latest HF+ (high flex plus) gel coat is applied to the completed mold. This gel coat provides a durable finish that will be free from the stress cracks that could appear as a fiberglass boat ages. Careful detail to trimming of the molded components ensures a repeatable high quality finished part every time.

Several layers of fiberglass, more than is typically required, goes into building the hull.

Every Retro Boat is a combination of sprayed chop and hand laid fiberglass and includes a 100% wood free transom. This molded in, once piece transom is manufactured from high density polycarbonate, a modified polyurethane composite. The transom height has been increased from the 1950's original 15" to a now standard long shaft dimension of 20". This modification allows for mounting of all standard long shaft outboard motors.

Prior to the water tight bonding of the deck and hull, the fuel lines, steering cables and electrical lines are run through additional protective outer cases to keep them from being encased in hull foam.

Careful alignment of the deck to the hull is one step in maintaining the excellence of our boats' construction. Retro Boats is dedicated to utilizing the best materials available.
