Owner's Comments of the Elan 410

We bought Mad Dash in the winter of 2019 in Jersey and sailed her back to the UK just in time for the Covid lock down. Once we were allowed back on the boat we could begin to really enjoy the full potential of this fantastic yacht.
Initially we weren’t allowed to sail with crew so we spent a glorious summer cruising Solent ports and environs and gradually renewing and replacing all the items demanded by regular maintenance. (Standing and running rigging sail drive seals anodes etc). we also replaced all the old ‘brass’ seacocks with new composite ones.
We knew that once we could invite crew to sail with us again we would include some racing in our sailing calendar so we upgraded her electronics and added a Digital Yacht AIS transponder.
With new racing sails, bow sprit, furling code zero, Asymmetric A2, and symmetrical spinnakers our sail plan was optimised for the racing season and to improve flexibility and control we added a cascade system for the back stay and a 3 bladed folding prop to give us efficient motoring and better manoeuvrability in tight marina spaces.
Mad Dash has given us safe comfortable cruising and exciting competitive inshore and offshore racing.
We completed the 2023 Fastnet so is Cat 2 compliant and this year with a crew of 8 we had a great week’s sailing in the Tour des Ports de la Manche regatta
Mad Dash is a well-balanced capable yacht that is sporty to sail yet forgiving if you get it wrong, she’ll look after you if you get caught out in a blow and with her white spinnaker flying downwind she’s a real bandit.
